GIS-Based Urban Planning & Infrastructure Development
To create impactful shelter policies, a clear understanding of the urban homeless population is essential. Citiyano De Solutions was engaged by the Directorate of Urban Development, Government of Tripura, to conduct a comprehensive Urban Homeless Survey under the DAYNULM framework. This initiative covered all 20 Urban Local Bodies across the state.
Our team developed a proprietary mobile application and a webenabled MIS system for field mapping and digital profiling of vulnerable individuals and spaces. This technology led approach captured detailed demographic and socio-economic data, ensuring 100% data upload and
real-time monitoring. The actionable insights derived from the survey enabled the government to make informed decisions regarding strategic shelter deployment, policy development, and social security planning for the most marginalized citizens.
Provided the state with accurate and disaggregated data on the urban homeless population for the first time.
Enabled evidence-based policymaking for shelter planning, deployment, and social welfare programmes.
Ensured vulnerable populations were identified, mapped, and incorporated into urban planning processes.
Improved coordination between municipal authorities, urban local bodies, and social welfare departments.
Empowered local bodies to design and implement targeted interventions for homeless individuals and families.
Reduced resource inefficiencies by aligning shelter infrastructure and services with actual demand and spatial distribution.
Promoted a more humane, inclusive, and dignified approach to addressing urban homelessness.
Established a digital database for continuous updating, monitoring, and policy evaluation.
Strengthened compliance with DAY-NULM guidelines and broader national urban development objectives.
Developed a scalable and replicable survey methodology that can be adopted by other states and urban agencies.
